About this role:

This position involves developing best practice approaches in dementia care, focusing on engagement and purposeful living. You will work directly with residents, provide education and mentoring to staff, and model best practice approaches to dementia care.

This role also involves supporting other homes in developing best practice approaches for residents living with dementia on a needs basis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate a resident-driven leisure and engagement program that enhances the wellbeing of our residents.
  • Provide education and support to staff on best practice dementia care and approaches.
  • Drive creative and innovative programming to enhance residents' quality of life.
  • Provide mentorship and leadership to staff on meeting residents' engagement and cultural needs, minimising responsive behaviours, and maximising quality of life for residents with dementia.

Requirements:

  • University qualification in Dementia Care or other acceptable qualification.
  • Demonstrated experience in working with people with dementia.
  • Sensitivity to the needs of older people, particularly those with dementia.
  • Understanding of relevant State and Commonwealth legislation as it applies to Aged Care providers.
