About the Role

Zurich Insurance Company is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Underwriter to join our team. As a Principal Underwriter, you will be responsible for the assessment of new business, additions, or alterations for Life risk products supported by Zurich.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain relationships with key advisers and effectively manage a designated adviser panel.
  • Provide technical advice and support to advisers and ensure that underwriting standards and service level agreements are applied to the handling of all cases received.
  • Assess and evaluate new business, additions, or alterations for Life risk products, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive business growth and improve underwriting processes.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, regulatory changes, and product developments to ensure expertise and knowledge.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in underwriting individual term life, income protection, TPD, and trauma insurance with high-level individual underwriting authorities.
  • Customer-focused with a solutions-driven approach.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to new technologies and processes, ensuring seamless integration and continuous improvement within dynamic environments.
  • Experience coaching and mentoring staff, with the ability to uplift capability.
  • Completion of medical terminology course.
  • ANZIIF and ALUCA CPLI certifications, strongly desired.
