About the Role

The Agricultural Operations Manager will be responsible for driving the productivity of our farming operations. This is a hands-on role involved in all aspects of the farming operations from planning and budgeting through to the execution of these plans. The position reports directly to the General Manager, Farms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage, direct, supervise and train farm personnel (3 FT staff plus contractors) while meeting WH&S obligations
  • Use appropriate techniques and equipment and manage complex tasks involving the use of applied theoretical knowledge and practical skills
  • Manage the irrigation schedule to maximise water use efficiency and production
  • Design, schedule, implement, supervise and perform selection and application of pest and disease control measures and fertiliser application

Requirements

  • Knowledge and experience of agriculture and farm management
  • Well-developed people management experience
  • There is a strong preference for the person to have irrigation experience
  • Sugarcane growing experience is not essential but would be advantageous
  • Qualifications including current drivers' licence, first aid certificate and HR truck licence are desirable

Remuneration & Benefits

A very attractive remuneration package is on offer to attract the right person for this crucial role, including salary, superannuation, car, computer and phone. An on-farm 4 bedroom house is available rent-free for the first 12 months whilst the incumbent decides where they want to live. A discretionary bonus is payable depending on company performance.
