
Contract Law Specialist

This is a pivotal role where you will ensure the legal position of an industry leader is protected in all contracts, particularly those with service providers in the superannuation industry.
About the Role:- Lead the review, negotiation, drafting, and advising on a broad range of commercial contracts, including IT/software agreements, SaaS, consultancy, leases, and confidentiality documents.
- Provide strategic legal advice to internal stakeholders, drawing on deep experience to support commercial decision-making and smooth procurement processes.
- Resolve complex contractual disputes and liaise with external law firms and vendors as needed.
- Identify knowledge gaps across the business and create training opportunities to build legal capability.
- Exercise independent judgment and maintain a pragmatic, collaborative approach to protect the company's legal interests.
- Represent the company with persuasive advocacy, ensuring fair outcomes and minimising time spent on legal issues.
- Support senior leaders and governance bodies with legal insights, while mentoring junior legal team members and contributing to a high-performance culture.
- Deep expertise in commercial and contract law, with desirable knowledge of superannuation and trust law.
- Proven ability to negotiate, draft, and advise on complex commercial agreements, especially IT-related contracts.
- Strong advocacy and communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders in-person and virtually.
- Commercial, risk-based mindset with sound judgment and strategic decision-making aligned to the company's objectives.
- Minimum seven years' experience in a law firm or in-house legal function, with leadership capability and mentoring experience.
- High attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and discretion in handling sensitive legal matters.
