The Position:
- We are seeking an experienced employment law specialist to join our in-house legal team in Melbourne on a six-to-nine-month secondment with the potential for extension.
You will collaborate closely with senior leaders, HR, and business teams to navigate complex workplace matters and projects while managing risk and supporting compliance in a highly regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide expert advice on employment law matters including contract agreements, awards, terminations, performance management, and workplace investigations.
- Navigate industrial relations complexities, including union engagement and enterprise bargaining.
- Develop and review workplace policies, contracts, and dispute correspondence.
- Offer practical guidance to HR and operational leaders on workforce strategy and compliance.
- Support the response to claims or regulatory investigations.
- Monitor legislative changes and update stakeholders accordingly.
- Contribute to internal training and guidance materials.
- Qualified Australian Legal Practitioner with 4-8 years of post-admission experience.
- Strong background in employment law with demonstrable industrial relations expertise.
- Previous experience in reputable law firms or in-house legal functions.
- Excellent communication and advisory skills with the ability to balance risk and commercial outcomes.
- Comfortable working with HR, senior leaders, and external counsel.
- Proactive, professional, and adaptable in fast-paced settings.
