The Social Worker - Alukura Maternity Services (SWAMS) is a key position within Central Australian Aboriginal Congress Aboriginal Corporation, responsible for delivering high-quality, culturally appropriate, and trauma-informed social and welfare services to women accessing maternity care through the Alukura Midwifery Group Practice (AMGP) and Alukura multidisciplinary teams.
Key Responsibilities- Undertake client screening and assessments to identify individual needs and develop culturally sensitive care plans.
- Provide case management, collaborative care planning, advocacy, supportive counseling, and group work to support clients in achieving their goals.
- Facilitate client access to community services, such as Centrelink and other relevant organizations, to promote self-efficacy and empowerment.
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive and coordinated care.
- Develop and maintain relationships with community organizations and services to enhance service delivery and outcomes.
- Relevant qualifications in social work or a related field.
- Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, particularly in the area of maternal health and wellbeing.
- Strong understanding of cultural safety and trauma-informed practice principles.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong commitment to collaboration and mutual respect.
