Import Operations Supervisor

About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Import Operations Supervisor to join our team at people2people, a leading recruitment agency in Australia, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee all facets of import freight operations
- Collaborate closely with various departments to foster a supportive team environment
- Partner with the export team to cultivate and sustain robust relationships with customers
- Automate cargo consolidation processes and oversee the processing of documentation handovers
- Liaise with airlines for flight information and freight availability
- Process all check-ins before the end of the day and assist the warehouse team in maintaining speedy and accurate import services
- Report and monitor damage and surplus cargo to management, investigate, and take appropriate action, including claims processing
- Conduct on-the-job training for new staff in relevant work practices and systems
- Participate in customer sales visits to improve operational issues and relations
- Ensure all employees follow and meet all Security, Customs, and Quarantine criteria
Requirements
- Demonstrate strong leadership qualities and a clear understanding of pallet sizes, weight restrictions, and knowledge of weight balancing
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a Freight Forwarding/Logistics Industry
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with clients and colleagues to address any queries or concerns
- Demonstrated ability to understand employees' concerns and provide alternative solutions
- Display a high level of customer service and maturity when dealing with customers, peers, and managers
- Possess high integrity, reliability, and a collaborative approach as a team player
- In-depth knowledge of freight forwarding operations and strong management style and decision-making skills
- Intermediate knowledge in MS Office applications
