We are seeking a highly skilled and culturally sensitive professional to join our team as a First Nations Community Coordinator. This is a full-time temporary role until 30 June 2025.
The successful candidate will be responsible for working with First Nations children with disability and developmental delays and their families to determine the best supports for their improved independence, social participation, and quality of life.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engage with First Nations people to understand their needs and provide support to First Nations families.
- Build relationships with local community and mainstream services to promote a culturally safe work environment.
- Connect with the local community to build networks and pathways that build inclusion opportunities for First Nations children with disability and their families to access Early Childhood Services.
- Provide culturally sensitive support to First Nations children and their families.
- Work collaboratively with the team to achieve the goals of the Early Childhood First Nations Community Coordinator role.
Requirements:
- Identify as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person.
- Experience engaging with First Nations people and providing support to First Nations families.
- Knowledge of developmental milestones for children aged 0-9 years.
- A reference from an Aboriginal Organisation, Corporation, or Community Elders Group.
- Confirmation of Aboriginality with common seal.
- Experience in connecting and building working relationships with local community and mainstream services.
- Ability to promote a culturally safe work environment.
- Ability to share knowledge of significant dates with First Nations people on a wider team.
