About the Role

Riot Games is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Artist to join our team in Sydney, Australia. As a key member of our Art team, you will be responsible for providing clear visual direction aligned with the Art Director's goals and partnering with other disciplines to develop effective delivery methods.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Visual Direction: Provide clear and concise visual direction to the team, ensuring that all artwork meets the highest standards of quality and consistency.
  2. Team Leadership: Partner with the League PC, Modes and Gameplay Art Directors to define visual style and direction for multiple product features, ensuring that all teams are aligned and working towards a common goal.
  3. Outsourcing Strategies: Develop and implement effective outsourcing strategies and documentation to ensure that all external partners meet the required standards.
  4. Artwork Quality: Ensure that the team produces high-quality artwork that meets technical performance targets and is aligned with the Art Director's goals.
  5. Team Performance: Partner with Product and Delivery teams to provide visibility into team deliverables and velocity, ensuring that the team is meeting its goals and objectives.
  6. Development Pace: Maintain a healthy development pace for artists, ensuring that they have the necessary resources and support to deliver high-quality work.
  7. Quality Control: Review final work, delivering feedback to ensure quality and consistency, and holding the team accountable to Riot's art quality and performance standards.
  8. IP Cohesion: Ensure IP cohesion and fidelity across projects, ensuring that all artwork is consistent and meets the required standards.
  9. Team Culture: Foster a diverse and inclusive team environment where all members feel valued, and reduce noise, emotional friction, and toxic patterns within the team.
  10. Decision-Making: Balance the needs of Riot with the needs of the team, making decisions that prioritize the delight of players and the success of the game.
  11. Communication: Represent the team's voice and direction to other teams and products, ensuring that all stakeholders are informed and aligned.
  12. Art Pipelines: Drive the development of efficient art pipelines, ensuring that the team has the necessary tools and resources to deliver high-quality work.
Requirements
  1. Education: Bachelor's degree in Game Art Development or equivalent experience.
  2. Experience: 5+ years of industry experience, including experience as a Senior or Lead Artist.
  3. Management Experience: 4+ years of management experience, including experience leading teams and managing projects.
