Psychological Support Specialist

About the Role
The Katherine West Health Board is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Psychologist to join their team as a Family, Domestic, and Sexual Violence Psychologist. This is a unique opportunity to shape the development of the Big Rivers Supporting Recovery from Family, Domestic and Sexual Violence Program, contributing to its foundational growth and making a profound impact on the lives of women and children in the region.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop personalized recovery plans to address clients' mental health needs and support their healing journeys.
- Implement trauma-informed care principles to create a safe and supportive environment.
- Provide evidence-based therapeutic interventions, including facilitating therapeutic groups.
- Educate clients, families, and community groups about trauma, its effects, and coping strategies.
- Collaborate with local organizations and agencies to ensure coordinated access to essential services.
About You
The successful candidate will have proven expertise in trauma-informed and culturally sensitive holistic therapeutic support, with a strong understanding of trauma, mental health, and social and emotional wellbeing. Additionally, while experience in FDSV is highly desirable, the Katherine West Health Board values employee development and is open to candidates presenting with transferable experience, and new graduate applicants.
Requirements
- AHPRA registration as a Psychologist
- Strong background in trauma-informed care and experience with trauma survivors.
- Capacity to establish and maintain therapeutic relationships and professional boundaries.
- Understanding of health and wellbeing issues affecting Aboriginal people in remote Northern Territory.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, particularly with vulnerable populations.
