Asset Management Director

AusNet Services is seeking a highly motivated and experienced professional to fill the role of Asset Management Director.



The successful candidate will be responsible for directing and overseeing asset management strategy activities for our contestable asset portfolio, which is projected to triple in value over the next 5 years.



The Asset Management Director will work closely with the Manager, Asset Management, to build a new high-performing team and lead the transformation of AusNet's capabilities to effectively manage risks associated with growth opportunities in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.



The key responsibilities of this role include:




  • Establishing and maintaining a fit-for-purpose Asset Management System for contestable assets
  • Developing asset management strategies and plans
  • Developing an asset investment pipeline
  • Ensuring integration of our asset management system across enterprise frameworks and processes
  • Maintaining a fit-for-purpose Asset Management System (AMS)
  • Leading our efforts to ISO55,001 certification and ongoing compliance
  • Supporting the alignment and development of plant and spares strategies
  • Ensuring an integrated AMS with Electricity Safety Management Schemes (ESMS) and enterprise management systems (HSEQ, Risk and Compliance, etc)
  • Supporting management of Capex and Opex budgets and forecast associated with contestable assets, including ongoing prioritisation and optimisation of asset investments
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with key internal AusNet stakeholders across HSEQ, asset management, operations & maintenance, engineering, business development, risk & compliance, delivery, and technology functions
  • Driving continuous improvement to increase efficiencies and support strategic growth objectives
  • Uplifting organisational capability, including awareness and communication of the asset management system and lesson learn
  • Leading the organisation through the change journey to be operationally excellent at battery energy storage systems, interstate and private transmission network operations


The ideal candidate will have:




  • Experience in asset management
  • Tertiary qualification in engineering
  • Ability to build strong relationships with colleagues and peers
  • Experience in change management
  • People management experience
  • Demonstrated ability to build effective relationships with cross business stakeholders, able to build trust and buy-in
  • Experience in operation and maintenance of electricity assets
  • Experience in the energy industry, battery assets or other utilities
