Job Description

The Laboratory Manager position is a pivotal role in our 24/7 Haematology Laboratory at Royal North Shore Hospital. As the leader of the laboratory, you will be responsible for providing an efficient and effective service across operational management, compliance management, financial planning and reporting, department performance monitoring and reporting, corporate risk management, human resources management and strategic planning.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead the laboratory to achieve operational excellence through effective management of staff, resources, and processes.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve laboratory efficiency, effectiveness, and patient outcomes.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure seamless integration and communication.
Requirements:
  • Proven leadership and operational management skills, including budget management, staff and resource management, and maintenance of professional standards and accreditation.
  • Extensive experience in haematology, with a demonstrated understanding of processes and workflows, including Routine Haematology, Coagulation, Flow Cytometry, and Morphology.
  • Demonstrated experience with quality improvement and risk management, including an understanding of relevant legislative and regulatory requirements in healthcare.
  • Strategic thinking and professional networks in pathology, with an understanding of the role and function of public laboratories within the Australian and NSW health systems.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, negotiation, and influencing skills, with the ability to develop and maintain strong collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
