
Aboriginal Community Liaison Specialist

This is a pivotal position that ensures every voice is represented and valued within Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
The successful candidate will possess experience engaging with these communities to facilitate accurate Census representation. Key responsibilities include overseeing engagement activities, fostering trust, and developing positive relationships with community stakeholders.
Census Engagement Managers are responsible for planning, managing, and executing engagement activities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities. They engage directly with communities, Elders, organisations, and service providers to raise awareness about the Census and encourage participation.
- Develop, implement, and manage engagement strategies for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities.
- Foster strong relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, Elders, organisations, and service providers.
- Contribute to recruiting and training field staff, emphasizing cultural competence and sensitivity.
- Ensure safe working practices and the well-being of team members during field work.
- Experience in community engagement and relationship-building.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Cultural competence and sensitivity when interacting with diverse communities.
