We are seeking a purpose-driven Family Law Solicitor/Lawyer to join our team in Alice Springs, providing culturally appropriate legal advice and representation to Aboriginal victim-survivors of domestic, family, and sexual violence.

About the Role
  • Represent clients in Domestic Violence Orders and Victims of Crime Compensation matters (occasional Family Law & Child Protection)
  • Work closely with Client Service Officers to deliver wrap-around support
  • Build strong relationships with communities and stakeholders
  • Travel to remote communities for outreach and education

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Culturally Informed Practice: Provide legal advice and representation to Aboriginal victim-survivors of domestic, family, and sexual violence
  2. Client Relationships: Build strong relationships with clients, communities, and stakeholders
  3. Communication: Communicate effectively with clients, colleagues, and external partners
  4. Flexibility: Demonstrate flexibility in adapting to changing priorities and workloads

Requirements:

  • Eligibility for an NT legal practising certificate (restricted/unrestricted)
  • At least 1 year post-admission experience (desirable)
  • Understanding of trauma-informed practice and DFSV issues
  • Strong communication skills and flexibility to travel
