About the Role

IJM Australia’s Donor Relationship Officer plays a pivotal role in cultivating and retaining Mid-level donors, advancing them towards deeper engagement with International Justice Mission. This hybrid position, based in Sydney, reports to the Philanthropy Manager and is part of IJM's global effort to protect vulnerable people from violence worldwide.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cultivate Donors: Develop and manage a portfolio of approximately 600-700 Mid-level donors using a tiered approach.
  • Leverage Relationships: Leverage relationship-based moves management strategies to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors towards deeper financial engagement.
  • Tier Donor Portfolios: Work closely with the Business Intelligence Team to effectively tier donor portfolios based on activity and capacity.
  • Develop Engagement Strategy: Develop, execute, and grow a donor engagement strategy including elements such as:
    • Donor Giving History: Donor giving history and future revenue goals.
    • Donor Contact Plans: Donor contact plans via phone, email, mail, and in-person or virtual contacts.
    • Marketing and Communications: Marketing and communications touch points.
    • Donor Passions: Donor passions, interests, and individual communication preferences.
    • Relationship-Based Moves Management Plan Activities: Relationship-based moves management plan activities.
  • Attract New Donors: Attract, convert, and retain new Mid-level donors.
  • Lapsed Donor Strategies: Develop and execute lapsed donor strategies to financially re-engage Mid-level donors.
  • Ensure Donor Retention: Ensure increased donor retention, value retention, giving, and movement of relationship-qualified donors to Major Donor portfolios.
  • Research Potential Donors: Actively research potential donors from within the existing mass segment and create new opportunities through external research.

Requirements

This role requires:

  • Strong Donor Cultivation Experience: Strong donor cultivation or customer service experience, high-level interpersonal skills, and a strong administrative background.
  • Self-Motivated and Organized: Self-motivated, organized, and disciplined to work independently.
  • Collaborative Skills: Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across teams.
  • Natural Influencer: Natural ability to influence and clearly articulate information.
  • High EQ and CQ: High emotional intelligence (EQ) and cultural intelligence (CQ), discretion, self-awareness, and the ability to relate to a diverse range of donors.
