About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Bid Manager to join our team at Eaton. As a key member of our business development team, you will be responsible for leading bids to secure future opportunities with existing and new customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement effective bid plans to secure business and deliver projects on time, budget, and quality.
  • Manage a team to achieve bid deliverables, involving cross-functional resources such as Engineering, Procurement, Operations, Quality, Finance, Contracts & Commercial, and external partners.
  • Obtain bid and proposal spend for managed opportunities and ensure resource demand is accurately captured and controlled.
  • Direct, motivate, and provide leadership for the team to deliver bid/programme to agreed time, budget, quality, and benefits.
  • Ensure effective communication throughout the team and with stakeholders.
  • Direct the supply chain for the bid/programme and integrate reporting using available PMO capabilities.
  • Cooperate with management to meet employer's legal duties and take reasonable care of health and safety.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Driven and experienced bid manager with a proven track record of developing and implementing effective plans to secure business and deliver.
  • Awareness of offset/industrialization requirements.
  • Strong record of operating in a customer service environment.
  • Knowledge of functional disciplines and supply chain that require management.
  • Track record of building and maintaining excellent relationships.
  • Equivalent of 5 years' experience managing bids and programmes or in functional area with proven delivery track record.
  • Knowledge and demonstrable experience of PPM techniques.
Skills
  • Leadership and communication skills to provide clear direction, guidance, and motivation to the team.
  • Priority and workload management skills to balance task, team, and individual goals.
  • Problem-solving skills to deal with ambiguities, uncertainties, and conflicts.
  • Knowledge of project finance and commercially and contractually aware.
  • Risk management skills to mitigate risks and identify opportunities to increase revenue/margin.
  • Customer orientation and interface skills to take a corporate or 'global' view and deal with senior stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of aerospace industry and Cobham/Eaton products.
  • Demonstrable PPM competences.
  • Bid/programme performance management skills to use KPIs and metrics.
  • Extensive knowledge of MS Office, particularly MS Project.
  • Willingness to develop and improve skills.
