Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Culturally Sensitive Family Practitioner to join our team. The successful candidate will provide efficient and quality initial assessment for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, strengthening communication and understanding with key stakeholders to support timely and effective service responses to meet the needs of vulnerable and at-risk families.

This role requires providing consultation on referrals received by the Child and Family Support Service for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and families, as well as supporting the development of skills in culturally responsive assessment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Initial Assessment: Conduct thorough and accurate assessments of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children to identify their needs and develop effective service responses.
  • Cultural Responsiveness: Foster strong relationships with key stakeholders to promote cultural understanding and sensitivity in service delivery.
  • Consultation: Provide expert consultation on referrals received by the Child and Family Support Service to ensure that services are delivered in a culturally responsive manner.
  • Partnerships: Develop and maintain strong partnerships with stakeholders across the child protection, education and human service systems to identify and implement responses for vulnerable families.
Requirements

The successful applicant will have an appropriate Social Work qualification from a recognised tertiary institution giving eligibility for full membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers. National Police Check and Employment-related Screening Check are required. Some interstate and intrastate travel may be necessary. A current Australian issued driver's licence is also required.
