Job Opportunity

About the Role
  • This position is open to individuals with First Nations Heritage.
  • 12 month fixed-term contract.

Your Key Responsibilities:
  • Contribute to project planning and documentation; monitor and report on project progress; and identify issues and propose solutions.
  • Support procurement and contract management activities including financial administration and budget preparation, invoicing, and monitoring.
  • Draft, edit, and collate meeting papers, submissions, correspondence, discussion papers, and briefing notes, and provide secretariat support for meetings, including agenda preparation, meeting minutes, logistics, and other administrative tasks.
  • Collaborate with members of the First Nations Health team and other Commission teams to deliver projects.
  • Research, review, and analyse data, reports, published materials, and expert opinions to provide information and advice to support project development and initiatives, including First Nations health care issues.
  • Work with the team to create and/or update guidance for internal processes and work independently to identify key actions required for effective team operation.
  • Under the guidance of the Program Manager, liaise with external stakeholders.
  • Other duties as required may include assisting with reception tasks and supporting corporate functions.
About You

To be considered for this role, you must be an Australian citizen with First Nations Heritage ideally possessing:

  • Strong written communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to produce quality documents for diverse audiences.
  • Effective and well-developed interpersonal skills, including presentation, negotiation, influence, and consultation abilities.
  • Well-developed research, strategic analysis, and interpretation skills.
  • Effective time management and organisational skills.
  • Sound judgement in identifying issues and proposing appropriate solutions, ensuring timely responses to identified issues.
  • An understanding of government processes.
  • A knowledge of the Australian healthcare system and an understanding of safety and quality issues in healthcare, particularly those related to First Nations peoples and their communities.
  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant area are preferred but not essential.
