Health and Safety Opportunity

The University of Sydney invites applications for an experienced Health Safety and Wellbeing Partner to join the Health Safety and Wellbeing team.

This role offers the opportunity to provide expert guidance in cultivating a culture of continuous improvement, listening, and learning, aimed at enhancing the health, safety, and wellbeing experience across the University.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and execute assurance programs including audits, inspections, and reviews.
  • Coordinate with the HSW Partnering team and H&S Senior Specialists to ensure the timing and resourcing of audits is efficient and effective.
  • Support the design, implementation, and maintenance of HSMS aligned with ISO 45001 and relevant Australian legislation.
  • Ensure legislative compliance and communicate changing governance requirements.
  • Work closely with leaders and staff to share leading practice and educate staff about the University's health, safety, and wellbeing requirements to foster a shared understanding and ownership.
Requirements:
  • Tertiary qualifications in Health and Safety or an equivalent combination of relevant training and experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and demonstrated experience presenting to groups, facilitating workshops, and chairing meetings.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of relevant Australian Safety Standards as well as relevant Safe work Australia, SafeWork NSW, and Workcover publications.
  • Knowledge of Risk Management practices and the application of government legislation, codes of practice, and Australian standards.
  • Extensive practical experience of Work Health and Safety with a demonstrated understanding of relevant legislation and policies.
  • Significant experience of H&S auditing/assurance with experience gained in a large, complex, matrixed organisations.
