Student Wellbeing Officer: Providing Holistic Support

Job DescriptionSalary: The salary for this role is approximately $73,730.51 per year, based on the advertised PACCT 5 classification and location.
Role Overview: We are seeking a Student Wellbeing Officer to join our Student Life team. This part-time position (3 days per week) is based at our Nelson Campus in Box Hill.
Duties: As a Student Wellbeing Officer, you will provide a range of support services, including welfare, intervention, and programs to underpin student success. You will work closely with teachers, managers, administrative staff, parents, and other Student Life team members to improve student retention and ensure an excellent student experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Respond to students at risk of disengagement from education due to study difficulties or mental health, life, relationship, financial, or welfare issues.
- Work collaboratively with students and teachers to provide an engaging, positive, and supportive learning community.
- Develop and deliver holistic support services to promote student well-being and success.
- Maintain confidentiality and consult with senior Student Life staff as required.
Requirements: To be successful in this role, you will need a relevant degree in Youth Work, Community Services, Social Work, Counselling, or equivalent. Eligibility for membership with relevant professional associations is desirable but not essential.
Desirable Skills and Qualities:
- Experience in working with vulnerable student groups, providing counselling, welfare, youth work, or similar support services.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with students, teachers, and stakeholders.
