Eye Donation Coordinator Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate individual to join our Lions Eye Donation Service team at the Centre for Eye Research Australia (CERA). As a key member of this team, you will play a critical role in supporting patients, families, and health professionals while making a real and lasting impact.

The Role

  • Identify, recover, process, and allocate eye donations for transplantation, training, and research purposes.
  • Liaise with donor families, hospital staff, pathologists, and surgeons to facilitate the donation process with sensitivity and professionalism.
  • Recover and prepare eye donations post-mortem in hospitals, mortuaries, and other facilities.
  • Collect and test donor samples, and prepare donations for surgical allocation.
  • Coordinate with transplant surgeons and clinics to ensure timely allocation to patients.
  • Support donor families and recipients through follow-up communication.

Key Requirements

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in medicine, medical science, allied health, or nursing.
  • Experience in a hospital or healthcare setting.
  • Strong emotional resilience and ability to communicate sensitively with families and stakeholders in end-of-life situations.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, adaptability, and ability to work both independently and in a small team environment.
  • Strong organisational, data entry, and communication skills.
  • A current and valid driver's licence.
  • A commitment to working collaboratively with others and fostering a supportive team culture.
