Relationship Manager Job Description

Job Summary:

The Australian Museum is seeking a skilled Relationship Manager to secure donations and steward donors. The successful candidate will develop and maintain relationships with existing and prospective donors to achieve the Museum's mission.

About the Role:

  • Develop and steward a portfolio of donors with a focus on securing gifts of $10K+
  • Build an Australian Museum bequest strategy and pipeline of bequest intenders
  • Proactively manage and develop relationships to solicit gifts from prospects and existing donors
  • Support senior relationship managers at the Museum in the stewardship of major and principal gifts

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a donor engagement strategy
  • Identify, research and qualify new donor prospects
  • Build and maintain relationships with existing and prospective donors
  • Develop and steward a portfolio of donors
  • Meet or exceed annual fundraising goals

Requirements:

  • At least 3 years' experience in a fundraising, NFP or customer service role
  • Great organisational skills, results-focussed and a self-starter
  • Experience establishing, nurturing and stewarding relationships within a portfolio of existing and prospective donors and foundations
  • Excellent writing skills, including the ability to draft grant applications and donor communications
  • Exemplary interpersonal skills, including effective listening, empathy and discretion
  • Ability to build and sustain relationships and exceptional customer service
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, work under pressure and establish priorities
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in arts, science, business, communications, marketing, museum studies or event management or a related field or equivalent work experience
