Job Title:

Aboriginal Health Promotion Coordinator

Role Overview

This position is responsible for the planning, implementation, evaluation and coordination of Aboriginal-specific health promotion programs focused on HIV, STIs and viral hepatitis. The role also focuses on building and strengthening collaborative relationships between health services, Aboriginal-led organisations, and other sectors that work with Aboriginal communities.


Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver key priorities outlined in local, state and national strategies for HIV, STIs, hepatitis C and hepatitis B.
  • Build and strengthen collaborative relationships between SHBBV services, Aboriginal-led organisations, and other health and non-health sectors.
  • Develop and implement culturally safe, community-led approaches to the design and delivery of health promotion programs.

Required Skills and Qualifications

This role requires relevant qualifications in a health-related field and/or experience as a health worker/health promotion/project worker in the government or non-government sector. Demonstrated knowledge of current HIV, sexual health and hepatitis prevention, testing and treatment is also required.
