About the Role

This non-clinical position supports Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients and their families at Cumberland Hospital, ensuring culturally respectful care and advocacy through:

  • Providing culturally safe support in mental health inpatient settings.
  • Advocating for holistic, person-centred care during hospitalisation and discharge.
  • Facilitating access to internal and external services for continuity of care.
  • Supporting education programs to enhance cultural safety within the service.
Your Key Responsibilities
  • Work with a large range of health professionals and advocate for Aboriginal mental health consumers and their families and communities.
  • Develop strong advocacy and case management skills with a broad knowledge of services that are available to support Aboriginal consumers and their families in addressing their healthcare needs.
  • Use databases, electronic documentation, and computer-based administrative systems effectively.
We Are Looking For Someone Who
  • Is of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent.
  • Has relevant qualifications in health, such as Certificate III or IV community services or primary health care.
  • Demonstrates experience in working with Aboriginal people who experience mental health conditions and psychosocial distress.
  • Has a Class C Driver's License.
