About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Area Manager to lead our business in the Mt Isa and Gulf country region. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for driving sales growth, managing the retail store, and leading a local team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Sales and Profit Growth: Achieve sales and profit targets by developing and executing business strategies, identifying new opportunities, and building strong relationships with customers.
  • Business Development: Win new business and secure existing gas and welding equipment contracts by leveraging your sales, leadership, and operational skills.
  • Retail Store Management: Oversee the management of the retail store, including inventory management, cost control, and leading a local team.
  • Distribution Model Management: Manage the local distribution model to ensure efficient and effective delivery of products and services.
  • Community Engagement: Grow BOC's position by working with local and trade allies within the community and industry.
  • Customer Training and Support: Deliver customer training and product demonstrations to ensure customers receive the best possible service.
  • Strategy Implementation: Support, implement, and drive group strategy, policies, and procedures to achieve business objectives.
  • Competitor Analysis: Understand, monitor, and report competitor activity and market trends to inform business decisions.
  • Customer Focus and Innovation: Promote a customer-centric focus and drive innovation in products and services to stay ahead of the competition.
  • Employee Development: Take ownership of developing, mentoring, and coaching employees to build their skills and capabilities.
Requirements
  • Industrial Experience: Previous experience in an industrial or trade environment is desirable.
  • Business Development Experience: 3-5 years of proven track record in business development, BDM, or B2B sales experience.
  • Sales Performance: Driven to deliver on sales targets, with a proven track record in the gas and welding industry.
  • Negotiation and Relationship Management: Strong negotiation skills with a proven performance to cost budgets, and strong relationship management skills with a customer-centric focus.
  • People Management: People management and mentoring experience, with the ability to develop and coach employees.
  • Business Acumen: Strong business acumen, with knowledge of price and profitability management.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent presentation, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Technical Skills: Computer literacy skills, including Microsoft Excel, Outlook, SAP, and CRM.
  • Driver's License: Current driver's license is essential.
