Senior Operations Manager - Open Cut Mine

Seeking an experienced Senior Operations Manager to lead our open cut mine operations in achieving established business and production targets.

The ideal candidate will champion a proactive safety culture, drive continuous improvement, and embed best practice operational standards.

  • Develop, execute, and track the annual Mining Business Plan to optimise production outcomes, reduce costs, and ensure efficient delivery of operational targets.
  • Provide strategic oversight of open cut operations, including short, medium, and long term mine planning, with a focus on cost efficiency and sustainable production.
  • Oversee the integration and scheduling of people and equipment to align with mine planning objectives, ensuring reliable delivery of operational targets.
  • Identify operational risks and cost variances early, escalate critical issues with solutions, and implement strategies to meet or exceed physical and financial performance targets.

This is a 9-day fortnight roster (Monday to Friday, Monday to Thursday) supporting a DIDO or FIFO lifestyle. Relocation support is available for those seeking a more permanent base in the Moranbah or Mackay region.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the Mining operations team to achieve business and production targets in a safe, efficient, and effective manner.
  • Champion a proactive safety culture by ensuring compliance with the site's Safety and Health Management Plan, leading safety initiatives, and fostering open communication across all teams.
  • Manage departmental budgets to ensure alignment with unit cost objectives and effective utilisation of site assets to meet production and maintenance goals.
