Mechanical Shift Supervisor Role Overview

This is a challenging and rewarding position that requires a strong leader to oversee the mechanical maintenance crew on the development panel. The successful candidate will ensure reliability and compliance of development equipment while supervising a team of skilled fitters.


About the Position
  • Lead a team of mechanical trades personnel during development operations
  • Coordinate and execute breakdown repairs, inspections, and planned maintenance
  • Ensure mine priorities are met
  • Provide feedback on quality of planned work and leadership
  • Drive a culture of identifying faults and correcting them before downtime occurs
  • Manage and raise breakdown work orders, new corrective work orders, and communicate work to process coordinators
  • Reallocate labour and equipment as required to maximise safety and production on shift
  • React to and control breakdowns and provide technical support to shift trades
  • Initiate contingency work when required
  • Debrief all trades before they finish shift
  • Brief the oncoming shift on the state of the mine and progress of ongoing tasks
  • Provide a comprehensive shift report of all Mechanical maintenance activities on shift

About You
  • Significant previous experience in Underground Coal, Development operations with 2-5 years' experience in a supervisory capacity
  • Queensland Standard 11 – Surface and Underground certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Queensland Coal Board Medical (or willingness to obtain)
  • Demonstrated leadership ability
  • A proven track record of working safely
  • Commitment to achieving business goals and outcomes
  • High level reasoning ability and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to effectively plan and prioritise tasks
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • A team-oriented attitude
