About the Role:

  • Represent clients in family law, domestic and family violence, child protection, and other related matters.
  • Prepare cases, personally advocate in court, and instruct counsel as required.
  • Provide duty lawyer services, legal advice, referrals, and information tailored to the needs of vulnerable and disadvantaged clients.
  • Contribute to policy development, law reform, and the delivery of legal training sessions while collaborating with clients, colleagues, and external stakeholders using trauma-informed principles.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Possess strong knowledge of family law, violence prevention advocacy, child protection, and counselling notes protect cases.
  • Able to independently prepare and advocate in complex legal matters.
  • Familiar with the practice and procedures of the relevant areas of law, including ethical standards.
  • Communicate effectively with clients who may have complex needs using principles of trauma-informed practice.
  • Have excellent interpersonal skills to foster positive relationships with colleagues, clients, and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to professional growth, quality service delivery, and continuous improvement.
