Job Overview: As a Law Advocate Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in advocating and making informed decisions on legal matters for individuals with impaired capacity.


In this position, you will be required to provide expert advice and assistance to stakeholders in relation to guardianship matters. The primary objective is to protect the rights and interests of vulnerable individuals and ensure they receive the best possible outcomes from the justice system.

Your Key Responsibilities:
1. Undertake thorough advocacy and timely supported and substituted decision making for individuals with impaired decision-making capacity across various areas of law, including criminal law, mental health, child protection, domestic and family violence, and family law.
2. Collaborate with delegated officers to deliver efficient, supported and substituted decision making for individuals with impaired decision-making capacity.
3. Ensure clients are adequately represented, and provide instructions to, and assist instructed legal representatives to support clients to achieve optimal results from their interactions with the justice system.
4. Advocate, negotiate and ensure that decision-making processes for clients align with applicable legislation.
5. Attend and/or appear on behalf of stakeholders at court or tribunal appearances, as required.
6. Establish and maintain positive relationships with key stakeholders.


Essential Qualifications And Requirements:
You must possess a law degree from a recognised tertiary institution and be admitted, or eligible for immediate admission as a legal practitioner. Mandatory Qualifications: A C class driver's licence is mandatory. Applications remain current for 12 months.
