We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Lecturer, Indigenous Health to enhance our teaching programs and conduct research related to Indigenous Health within the University of Wollongong's Doctor of Medicine (MD) Program.

In this role, you will be instrumental in designing and implementing the curriculum, ensuring alignment with the accreditation standards set by the Australian Medical Council (AMC) for medical programs.

You will collaborate closely with the GSM Academic Lead, Admissions and the MIHS Pre-Medicine Course Coordinator to recruit, select and support Indigenous students in the Pre-Medicine Course, for success in the MD program.

To be successful, you must be of Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander heritage with a developing academic record and hold a PhD in a relevant discipline or medical specialty qualification.

Experience or potential in teaching Indigenous health at a tertiary level, along with a strong understanding of Indigenous health issues in an Australian context and an ability to build links and connections with the Indigenous community, is essential.

Additionally, an enthusiasm for the advocacy and care for student learning is required, along with a collegial teamwork approach, strong interpersonal and written communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement the curriculum for the MD Program
  • Collaborate with the GSM Academic Lead, Admissions and the MIHS Pre-Medicine Course Coordinator to recruit, select and support Indigenous students
  • Conduct research related to Indigenous Health
  • Teach Indigenous health at a tertiary level
