Fleet Operations Specialist

Key Responsibilities- To ensure the vehicle fleet is maintained in an optimum state to provide for the safety and security of drivers, passengers, and cargo across operations.
- Work with logistics managers, regional directors, finance teams, drivers, and customers to develop and administer fleet policy in support of operational continuity, sustainability, and optimising total operating cost outcomes.
- Ensure ongoing alignment of fleet policy to related government, health, statutory, and industry best practices.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or a combination of qualifications and substantial experience in fleet management and operations, demonstrating a solid foundation in both theoretical and practical aspects of the role.
- Strong experience in fleet operations and management, including vehicle acquisition, maintenance, disposal, and overall portfolio oversight.
- Demonstrated ability to apply industry best practices, comply with relevant legislation and organisational policies and standards.
- Proficient in corporate financial and administrative systems, with hands-on experience using fleet management and telematics platforms to support operational efficiency and data-driven decision-making.
- Strong knowledge of the motor vehicle, fleet, and freight transport industries, with proven ability to engage effectively with suppliers, dealers, manufacturers, government bodies, contractors, and service providers.
- Familiar with industry tools and strategies that drive innovation and continuous improvement.
- Highly developed communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, concise, and insightful reports, option analyses, presentations, and briefings tailored to diverse audiences.
- Exceptional interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills, with a strong track record in influencing, negotiating, and building productive networks across internal and external partners.
- Strong numeracy and financial acumen, including experience in budgeting, forecasting, and managing cost centre budgets to ensure financial accountability and performance.
- Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively, managing complex projects, meeting tight deadlines, and delivering high-quality outcomes with strong attention to detail and alignment to strategic objectives.
