The Department of Education, Western Australia, seeks an exceptional candidate for the position of Program Coordinator – HALT.

This role is designed to improve learning outcomes through quality curriculum, Teaching for Impact, and the incorporation of literacy, numeracy, and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) capabilities.

Under the leadership of the executive team, the successful applicant will lead the development of the Hedland Instructional Model and Orderly Learning Environment (Our Way). They will be responsible for implementing effective Quality Teaching and Learning practices across all Learning Areas.

The ideal candidate will possess an outstanding ability to show innovative, bold, and creative solutions and a proven track record in working collaboratively to solve complex problems. They will be an excellent classroom practitioner and experienced mentor and coach, driven to support early-phase and experienced teachers to unpack the Teaching for Impact component of the Quality Teaching Strategy.

The successful applicant will be a highly organised practitioner with exceptional collaborative skills who utilises their cultural proficiency to engage with internal and external stakeholders productively and authentically to meet the needs of all students.

The role also involves classroom teaching, instructional leadership, and ongoing review and support of Our Way. The successful applicant will contribute to the development of the school plan through participative decision making, including assisting in developing policy and establishing and maintaining systems.

Key responsibilities include:

Leadership and Collaboration: Lead the development of the Hedland Instructional Model and Our Way, and implement effective Quality Teaching and Learning practices across all Learning Areas.

Teaching and Learning: Provide high-quality teaching and learning experiences for students, and support the development of innovative classroom practices.

Policy and Systems: Contribute to the development of school policies and systems, and assist in establishing and maintaining a positive school culture.

Professional Learning: Deliver professional learning, and provide feedback to assist teacher proficiency expectations.

Culture and Diversity: Promote a culture of lifelong professional learning and high expectations, and engage with internal and external stakeholders productively and authentically to meet the needs of all students.

The successful applicant will be required to hold registration with the Teachers Registration Board of Western Australia and obtain a valid Working With Children Check before commencing employment.
