About the Role
As part of a prominent not-for-profit health and community service network, Melbourne City Mission (MCM) delivers a wide array of services aimed at supporting vulnerable populations, including youth at risk of homelessness. This position is integral to the Youth Support Program, which encompasses various services designed to assist young individuals facing or at risk of homelessness.
The role is primarily based at a specialized youth service, dedicated to aiding young people aged 12 to 24 in addressing their physical, emotional, and social needs, while facilitating pathways out of homelessness. This includes providing crisis accommodation and a drop-in center that offers multiple services for youth across the region.
The responsibilities of this position include:
Offering clinical leadership to the support staff, ensuring the delivery of an effective and therapeutic service. The Senior Coordinator will oversee daily operations, manage staff schedules, monitor team performance, assist in recruitment, and provide professional guidance and supervision. Managing a small caseload of clients within the program and offering brief support to users of the drop-in service.This role will receive professional support from the leadership team, while operational oversight will be provided on-site.

Nursing qualification with a minimum of 7 years of experience in relevant settings Eligibility for registration with the appropriate professional body Previous experience in a similar role, particularly in care coordination for individuals with complex needs Knowledge in areas such as homelessness, mental health, substance use, and youth with complex needs Strong understanding of issues affecting youth health and wellbeing Excellent interpersonal skills, including strong verbal and written communication abilitiesScreening Requirements
