About the Role:

As the Project Director for Strategic Growth, you will lead and manage a high-performing team responsible for delivering major capital projects within the City of Armadale.

Your leadership will be instrumental in setting technical and project management standards, drawing on your extensive experience in program management within the construction and local government sectors.

You will provide clear direction and coaching to your team, fostering skill development and establishing consistent practices to enhance performance.

In addition to managing the team, you will monitor contract performance, manage risks, and implement strategies to achieve successful project outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the delivery of significant civils and building projects, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards.
  • Identify and capitalize on opportunities to innovate and improve project delivery processes.
  • Understand and integrate community needs into project planning and execution, ensuring outcomes that benefit our residents.
  • Ensure commercial and contractual robustness in all project dealings, drawing from your proven experience.

What You Will Achieve:

  • Establish processes and promote a strong culture of safety and environmental care, ensuring controls are in place to address risks associated with major projects.
  • Select suppliers based on City requirements, manage commercial negotiations, and ensure compliance with legislative and policy requirements.
  • Lead and coach a multidisciplinary project team, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
  • Ensure projects are completed on time and within budget, identifying opportunities for improvement and addressing performance issues.

To Be Successful, You Will Need:

  • Demonstrated leadership experience in managing complex projects with multiple stakeholders.
  • Extensive experience in program and project management within the construction/local government industries.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Engineering (civil, building, or structural) or related disciplines, with relevant professional registrations.
  • Strong understanding of procurement, contract management, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and environmental sustainability.
