Drive impactful change and lead the delivery of major projects at the City of Armadale.

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Project Delivery Director to lead our efforts in delivering significant capital projects. With annual investments ranging between $20M to $40M, our projects are diverse, innovative, and have a lasting impact on our community.

About the Role:

You will be responsible for leading and managing a multidisciplinary team, ensuring the successful delivery of the City's major capital projects, including civils and properties. Your leadership will set high technical and project management standards, drawing on your extensive experience in program management within the construction and local government sectors.

You will provide clear direction and coaching to your team, fostering skill development and establishing consistent practices to enhance performance. Building and maintaining key relationships with internal clients, stakeholders, and external partners will be essential in ensuring seamless project progression and effective communication.

Your role will also involve monitoring contract performance, managing risks, and implementing strategies to achieve successful project outcomes. Commercial acumen will be essential in ensuring the robustness of all project dealings.

What You Will Be Working On:

  • Major Projects: Lead the delivery of significant civils and building projects, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards.
  • Innovative Solutions: Identify and capitalize on opportunities to innovate and improve project delivery processes.
  • Community Focus: Understand and integrate community needs into project planning and execution, ensuring outcomes that benefit our residents.
  • Commercial Acumen: Ensure commercial and contractual robustness in all project dealings, drawing from your proven experience.

What You Will Achieve:

  • Safe and Sustainable Project Delivery: Establish processes and promote a strong culture of safety and environmental care, ensuring controls are in place to address risks associated with major projects.
  • Effective Procurement and Contract Management: Select suppliers based on City requirements, manage commercial negotiations, and ensure compliance with legislative and policy requirements.
  • High Performing Team: Lead and coach a multidisciplinary project team, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
  • Operational Excellence: Ensure projects are completed on time and within budget, identifying opportunities for improvement and addressing performance issues.

To Be Successful, You Will Need:

  • Demonstrated leadership experience in managing complex projects with multiple stakeholders.
  • Extensive experience in program and project management within the construction/local government industries.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Engineering (civil, building, or structural) or related disciplines, with relevant professional registrations.
  • Strong understanding of procurement, contract management, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and environmental sustainability.

We offer a competitive salary range of around $160,000 per annum, plus 11% superannuation and a vehicle. You will also have the opportunity to work flexibly and enjoy free membership to the Armadale Fitness and Aquatic Centre.
