About the Position

This role is situated in the Eastern Region, part of the Family and Community Services Team. The Victorian Family Preservation and Reunification Program is funded by the Department.

The program includes an initial intensive intervention phase, delivered through a mobile and integrated approach, followed by a sustained service support phase, aimed at preventing children from entering or re-entering care or reunifying with their parents.

Key child development issues relating to young parents and their families who have complex needs include attachment, trauma, and intergenerational disadvantage.

The role requires the incumbent to hold a relevant tertiary qualification, such as a Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Child Development, Psychology or a related field.

A strong background in a relevant area supporting understanding of key child development issues is essential.

Understanding of and demonstrated experience working with issues such as attachment, trauma, and intergenerational disadvantage are also required.

Child development research and its application in treatment, as well as experience using strengths based, and child centered family focused theoretical models, would be beneficial.

Experience completing and using assessment tools including the North Carolina Family Assessment Scale and Adverse Childhood Experiences Questionnaire would be advantageous.
