  • Negotiate and manage leases, renewals, rent reviews, surrenders, and terminations to deliver optimal financial and operational outcomes.
  • Drive site acquisition and portfolio optimization, ensuring new locations support business growth.
  • Bid and foster strong relationships with landlords, developers, legal counsel, and property stakeholders nationwide.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to shape business strategy and provide robust commercial recommendations.
  • Presents business cases and lease proposals to senior management with clear, data-driven insights.
  • Mentor and develop a high-performing leasing team, fostering accountability, engagement, and succession planning.
  • Travel nationally to assess opportunities, strengthen landlord rapport, and resolve local issues.

Requirements and Qualifications

To excel in this role, you'll have a proven track record in retail or commercial leasing and a strong background in negotiating complex deals. You bring:

  • 15+ years' experience in retail or commercial leasing, including portfolio management across multiple regions.
  • Demonstrated success in strategic lease negotiations, portfolio optimization, and business planning.
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen, with expertise in occupancy cost ratios, rent escalation models, and property performance metrics.
  • Extensive networks and relationships with landlords and developers nationwide.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management, communication, and influencing skills.
  • Solid understanding of leasing legislation, risk management, and compliance frameworks.
  • Inspiring and strong leadership capability, with a track record of building high-performing teams.
  • A collaborative approach, adaptable style, and no ego attitude; not driven by bureaucracy and status.
  • Navigates effectively in a fast-paced environment with ambiguity and complexity.
