Children's Welfare Specialist

Our organization is seeking a skilled Children's Welfare Specialist to work with infants, children, and young people aged 0-18 years and their families. The successful candidate will provide trauma-informed assessment and intervention services.

The role involves:

  • Developing Health Management Plans to address the physical, developmental, psychosocial, sexual, and mental health needs of children in Out-of-Home Care.
  • Providing professional education around health needs of children in OOHC.
  • Delivering specialist social work services to patients, clients, consumers, and their family/carers to ensure optimal health outcomes consistent with our organization's policies and procedures.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Extensive postgraduate experience in working with children, young people (0-18 years) and families within the Child Protection context.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Child Protection Legislation and policy and procedures, with a focus on Out of Home Care.
  • Demonstrated advanced level of skills in complex psycho-social assessment and extensive specialist psycho-social knowledge of children in relation to child protection, substance misuse, mental illness, domestic violence, and attachment and development.
  • Demonstrated ability to create and maintain close working relationships with NSW Health Services, Department of Communities and Justice and Non-Government agencies, and multidisciplinary colleagues.
  • Demonstrated high-level communication skills (written and verbal) and demonstrated computer skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to initiate, lead, complete, and share quality improvement activities and service evaluation processes with other staff and demonstrated capacity to provide clinical supervision.
  • Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2).
