Risk and Compliance Expert Leader

As a Senior Risk and Compliance Partner, you will play a critical role in driving risk management and compliance initiatives across our organization. Reporting directly to the General Manager, Risk Governance and Strategy, your primary focus will be on ensuring the effective operation and embedding of risk and compliance practices.
You will serve as the central point of coordination for all risk management and compliance activities, responsible for providing risk and compliance advice, conducting self-assessments, managing incidents and issues, performing control testing, and preparing risk and compliance reports.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the General Manager, Risk Governance and Strategy in maturing our Line 1 Risk and Compliance capability and practices;
- Gaining an in-depth understanding of our Risk Division and becoming a trusted advisor to the Risk Leadership Team on risk, compliance, and control-related initiatives and improvements;
- Leading and coordinating risk and compliance assessment activities (including control testing and reasonable steps assessments) and working with management to develop action plans to improve the control environment;
- Providing input to Board reporting, regulatory reporting, and preparing information packs for risk working groups and meetings;
- Working with key stakeholders within Risk and across the organization to further embed our Operational Risk Management and Compliance Frameworks;
We are looking for a seasoned professional with experience in leading a Line 1 or Line 2 risk team, preferably within the Financial Services Industry. Your expertise should span risk and compliance assessments, control testing, issue and incident management, and providing risk advice on large, complex projects.
Candidates must demonstrate:
- The ability to grasp key concepts quickly and challenge the status quo;
- Strong internal relationships and collaboration skills;
- Effective planning and prioritization abilities;
- Excellent communication, oral, written, and presentation skills;
Nice to have qualifications include operational process knowledge and experience within an exchange and/or trading environment, understanding of key markets obligations, financial risk, and/or model risk, and knowledge of BCP/disaster recovery frameworks.
