Job Title: Cultural Competence Specialist

We are seeking a skilled professional to join our team as a Cultural Competence Specialist. The successful candidate will provide strategic leadership and support in implementing systemic practice improvements across the youth justice system.

This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who want to contribute to improving outcomes for young people from multicultural and multifaith backgrounds.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Provide authoritative advice to senior executives on emerging issues impacting multicultural and multifaith young people and their families
  • Develop and implement a change reform work plan to address the overrepresentation of African, Pasifika and other multicultural and multifaith young people in the justice system
  • Provide state-wide case management and CCYD practice advice for complex cases and systemic issues as escalated by Community Engagement Officers or regional managers
  • Work alongside existing multicultural and multifaith staff to proactively identify and analyse emerging systemic issues and trends impacting young people from multicultural and multifaith backgrounds

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated understanding of relevant legislation and policies
  • Strong expertise and proficient understanding of multicultural and multifaith groups
  • Demonstrated experience and ability to forge partnerships and communicate sensitively and effectively with multicultural and multifaith groups
  • A full and current driver's license
