The Volunteer Sector Development Officer plays a pivotal role in elevating the profile of volunteering within Boroondara. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing initiatives that enhance volunteer engagement practices, support community strengthening, social inclusion, and wellbeing objectives.

This role involves collaborating with various stakeholders, including volunteer-involving organisations, Council departments, and the community to develop projects that respond to current and emerging trends in volunteering.

Responsibilities include:

  • Developing large-scale events to connect prospective volunteers with community organisations;
  • Organising workshops, forums, or online resources to build the capacity of volunteer-involving organisations and Council departments;
  • Ongoing development of the Boroondara Volunteer Skills Bank and the volunteer management database.

Requirements:

  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal;
  • Demonstrated understanding of the volunteer sector and community development principles;
  • Experience in project development and the delivery of large events;
  • Comprehensive computer skills across the Microsoft Office range of applications;
  • Commitment to quality outcomes and efficient work practices;
  • Excellent time management and organisation skills;
  • Preferred qualifications in community development, social science, or human services.

Employment Requirements:

  • Applicants must undergo a National Police Record Check and hold a valid Working with Children Clearance.
