The Department of Families, Fairness and Housing has an exciting opportunity for a Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) Officer to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing a high-quality tenancy service to residents who live in department-owned Specialist Disability Accommodation with Disability Homes Victoria.
About the RoleThis role has key working relationships with residents, their support networks, and Supported Independent Living (SIL) providers. The SDA Officer will establish and manage individual tenancies, ensuring they are compliant with relevant legislation, regulation, and policy. This includes adhering to the Residential Tenancies Act 1997 (Victoria), the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), and other relevant legislation.
Main Responsibilities- Provide a high-quality and compliant specialist disability accommodation tenancy service by adhering to legislation, regulation, and departmental policies and procedures.
- Establish and maintain productive working relationships across the department and work in collaboration with key stakeholders, such as residents, their families, support networks, and SIL providers.
- Communicate effectively in the mode of communication that a resident is most likely to understand, including telephone, video, or in-person meetings.
To be successful in this role, applicants must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with residents, their families, and support networks. They must also have a high level of understanding of the NDIS and related legislation, as well as experience in providing support services to people with disabilities.
