Lead Virology Specialist

NSW Health Pathology is seeking a permanent full-time Senior Hospital Scientist to lead the Virology Section in the Microbiology Laboratory at Westmead Hospital.
The successful applicant will oversee the management of scientific, technical and support staff, testing and associated activities, logistics for the Virology Section. Responsibilities include:
- Operational Integrity: Ensure the quality, cost and operational integrity of the section.
- Regulatory Compliance: Maintain regulatory compliance and accreditation of laboratory services.
- Human Resource Management: Oversee human resource, business and resource management.
Key Requirements:
- A Bachelor's Degree or higher in Science/Medical Laboratory Science or an equivalent qualification.
- Advanced knowledge of Pathology Laboratory Information Systems and e-based Quality Management Systems.
- Extensive high-level knowledge of working within the relevant section of the laboratory with knowledge of operation and maintenance of analytical equipment.
- Sound understanding of legislation, policies and requirements impacting the laboratory environment.
- Advanced knowledge, skills and experience in virology and molecular biology.
