The Refugee Health Nurse plays a vital role in providing culturally sensitive healthcare to newly arrived individuals and families. This challenging yet rewarding position requires a unique blend of clinical skills, cultural competence, and community engagement.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide high-quality patient care to clients from diverse backgrounds, taking into account their language, customs, and health beliefs.
- Advocate for access to essential services and coordinate healthcare across different providers to ensure seamless care delivery.
- Liaise with local settlement services to address the complex needs of newly arrived individuals, including housing, employment, and education.
- Promote social connection and integration by referring clients to support and orientation programs, helping them build a new life in their host country.
- AHPRA Division 1 Registered Nurse, with full and unrestricted registration in Australia.
- Minimum of 2-3 years' experience in primary health care settings or as a Refugee Health Nurse, with a proven track record of working with diverse client populations.
- Strong grasp of community health, human rights, and trauma-informed care principles, with the ability to apply this knowledge in a real-world setting.
- Demonstrated understanding and respect for diverse cultural backgrounds, traumatic experiences, and unique health challenges, with the ability to adapt communication styles to meet individual needs.
