We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clerical Officer to join our team at the Department of Justice. As a key member of our State Litigation Office, you will provide comprehensive clerical assistance and support to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of civil litigation services.

Job Summary

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and detail-oriented individual to work in a dynamic environment. You will be responsible for a wide range of clerical and administrative duties, including high-quality document production, data entry, and transcription services. Your excellent communication and interpersonal skills will enable you to build strong relationships with colleagues, clients, and other stakeholders.

About the Role

  • Provide comprehensive clerical assistance and support to the State Litigation Office, including high-quality document production and preparation of correspondence and legal documents.
  • Undertake a wide range of clerical and administrative duties to support the efficient and effective delivery of civil law services.
  • Undertake transcription services for legal practitioners with a high level of speed and accuracy.
  • Undertake data entry, including updating and maintaining the legal practice database, and utilizing database tools for preparation of documentation.
  • Provide personal and telephone reception facilities of a high quality, ensuring sensitive and confidential handling of enquiries.
  • Ordering and receipting stationery requirements and undertaking daily maintenance of office equipment.
  • Work collaboratively as part of a team, providing support and guidance to administrative assistant positions.
  • Provide relief for other administrative and clerical positions in Crown Law as required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; tertiary qualifications in a related field (e.g., administration, law) desirable.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in a similar role, preferably in a government agency or legal environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with colleagues, clients, and other stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office applications, particularly Word and Excel.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
