Autonomous Underwater Vessel Operations Technician

We are seeking an individual with relevant Maritime (or complex autonomous systems) experience to test, operate and support Autonomous Underwater Vessels (AUVs or Robot Submarines) in the field.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work within a dynamic team of multidisciplinary engineers, specialists and technicians to test and operate AUVs and associated systems in the field environment
  • Prepare for field deployments by identifying, sourcing and kitting AUV test and support equipment
  • Conduct daily AUV inspections and system checks before and after operations
  • Coordinate AUV launch and recovery evolutions, execute day-to-day test operations, and write daily operations and test reports
  • Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, repair and upgrades of AUVs in the field, operating the maintenance management system
  • Support development, review and trials of Standard Operating Procedures and user documentation for all aspects of AUV operations
  • Assist with the preparation of risk assessments for test and related operations, identifying and implementing mitigations
  • Provide constructive feedback to design and manufacturing teams including software user interface design
  • Be in the field 60%+ of the time, supporting nearshore and offshore testing

The ideal candidate will have 4+ years experience in mechanical or electrical trades (or production-oriented robotics), Maritime trade background is desirable as well as subsea experience or autonomous vehicle operation. They should be proficient in interpreting technical documentation (mechanical drawings, work instructions, equipment schematics, electrical diagrams, etc.), and have experience performing functional checkouts and tests, and diagnosing/escalating issues discovered during these processes.
