Job Opportunity

We are seeking a reliable and punctual Forestry Field Specialist to join our team in the Mt Gambier / Green Triangle Region.

Job Summary

The ideal candidate will be responsible for assisting with various forestry activities and ensuring the safety of themselves and others.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the implementation of forestry projects.
  • Conduct field surveys to assess forest health, tree growth rates, and potential pest or disease outbreaks.
  • Collect samples of plant tissues for laboratory analysis.
  • Follow established safety protocols at all times to prevent accidents or injuries during field operations.
  • Maintain accurate records of work completed and provide regular progress reports to supervisors.
  • Collaborate with other team members on various tasks as required.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Excellent time management skills to ensure efficient completion of assigned tasks within given deadlines.
  • Strong physical stamina and the ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Good communication skills with the ability to follow instructions accurately and report findings effectively.
  • High school completion or equivalent qualification.
  • A current Class C driver's license.
  • Additional certifications related to forestry or agriculture will be an advantage but not mandatory.

Desirable - Not Compulsory But Certainly Viewed Favourably

Demonstrated wildfire firefighting competency and/or previous experience in forest fire management would be highly regarded.
