Mental Health Advocate

As an advocate, you will work with individuals at risk of or on compulsory treatment orders. Your role is to empower them to understand their rights and participate in decisions about their care and recovery.
Your Key Responsibilities:- You will respond to enquiries from users of our program, mental health organisations and services. This includes hospitals, peer support workers, social workers, lawyers, caseworkers and other advocates.
- You will provide services in person to inpatient units, community settings and via phone and email. Regular travel to designated mental health services will be required.
To succeed in this role, you will need strong communication and negotiation skills. You must be able to build trust and rapport with a diverse range of consumers and stakeholders.
You should have a deep understanding of the challenges people face when accessing mental health support services. You will need to be a creative problem solver who can adapt to different situations.
The ideal candidate will have experience in one or more areas including community development, consumer advocacy, mental health advocacy, community sector advocacy, social work, mental health service provision or other similar fields.
