The role of Student Welfare Support Officer is pivotal in fostering student welfare, engagement, and success. You will provide guidance, resources, and intervention strategies to enhance students' overall wellbeing, including mental health support, crisis management, and referral services.
As a key member of the university community, you will work closely with students, staff, and external partners to identify and address the diverse needs of our student population. Your expertise and skills will be essential in creating a supportive environment that promotes student success and well-being.
Key responsibilities will include providing confidential support to students on personal and academic issues, managing individual student cases, developing and implementing support plans, and conducting regular follow-ups to monitor progress.
You will also maintain knowledge of internal university services (academic support, disability resources, career services) and external community resources (mental health services, legal aid, housing assistance).
Acting as a first point of contact for students in distress, you will connect them with relevant services when needed. Additionally, you will develop and facilitate workshops and programs on topics like stress management, resilience, cultural competency, and healthy living.
Maintaining accurate and confidential records of student interactions and case notes in compliance with university policies and privacy regulations will be a critical aspect of this role.
