Role Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Culturally Sensitive Housing Support Specialist to join our team in Outer Eastern Melbourne.

This exciting opportunity is part of the newly funded program delivering services in a community-based setting. As a Housing Support Specialist, you will work closely with participants who require assistance to sustain tenancies or move into stable housing.

Your primary focus will be on building strong relationships with participants who have experienced chronic homelessness. You will support them to settle into their new homes and link them with local communities.

You will manage a small caseload, focusing on individualized goal planning and performing regular outreach appointments. Your efforts will aim to prevent homelessness and achieve participant outcomes through effective support strategies.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver culturally sensitive case management and service coordination activities while collaborating with other agencies and community resources.
  • Support participants in an assertive outreach capacity, working towards sustaining tenancies and ending homelessness in Melbourne.
  • Develop and implement individualized plans, focusing on long-term support and strategies that address the needs of each participant.
Essential Qualifications and Skills
  • A relevant degree qualification in community services or a related field.
  • Experience in case management, navigating complex service systems, and working with vulnerable populations.
  • Passion for sustaining tenancies and ending homelessness in Melbourne.
  • Ability to adapt to participants' needs effectively and include their voice in collaboration with different services.
  • Demonstrated de-escalation and effective response tactics towards challenging behavior and crisis situations.
